Tutorial To Undo A Windows Update On Your Computer

Microsoft releases regular updates for its Windows range of operating systems. If you find that a set of updates have been causing problems on your computer and creating software conflicts, you will be required to remove that update from your computer. This can be done with the help of some simple troubleshooting tips.

Microsoft help and support team has provided a set of simple guidelines which when followed will enable you to undo a Windows Update that you have carried out on your computer.

Instructions to follow

  • First of all, turn on the computer that you want to configure. If the update is causing the computer to crash after or during start-up, restart the computer in Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key on the keyboard during start-up.
  • Click on the Start button displayed in the lower left hand corner of the screen. The Start Menu will be displayed on your screen, displaying a list of options that you can choose.
  • Select the Control Panels item from the Start menu. This loads a window that will give you options on various settings for your computer.
  • Find and double-click with your mouse on the option that reads Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel window. This piece of software allows you to install and uninstall programs from your computer.
  • Choose the Install/Uninstall Tab or the Change or Remove Programs Tab. You will now see a list of programs installed on your computer.
  • Scroll down to the end of the list of programs. Near the bottom of the list, you will see a list of updates that have been installed on the computer.
  • Select the update that has been causing the computer issues, and click on the Remove button. Follow any on-screen instructions that may appear, and then reboot the computer. You have now removed the update.
